1) What was your first connection with Mission 21 or Basel Mission?

I met Benedict Shubbert in Bukoba/Tanzania in 2003 and Albrecht Hubbert in Kinshasa in 2004 during the Africa Continental Assembly. I was invited in both occasions to make presentations on HIV and the Church – HIV and Women and HIV and Youth. Afterwards, I discussed with each of them about how to help mission 21 church partners to develop HIV Programmes.

2) What have been your contributions to the empowerment of women?

I trained more than 10, 000 women and girls in Cameroon, China, DR Congo, Indonesia, Nigeria, South Sudan and Tanzania on the following subjects: Leadership – Sexuality and Reproductive Health – HIV prevention and Life skills education – Gender Based Violence – peer education and HIV Prevention – Programme Cycle Management/Result Based Management (RBM).

3) Why do you think the empowerment of women is important in the Faith Based Organizations?

Women are majority in the community and in the church. They are playing a very important role in the development of the community. They are those who are taking care of the entire community. Empowering them is to contribute to the development of the all World.
