Occupation: Social Worker, Bolivia

1) What was your first connection with Mission 21 or Basel Mission?

My first connection with Mission 21 was trough the project “Women develop their life projects as promoters of rural communities”. This project was supported by Mission 21 from 2014 to 2017. We worked with two main components: livelihood production and income generation. During the process we met Claudia Rampa and Hildegard Willer who joined us and monitored the project until 2017.

2) What have been your contributions to the empowerment of women?

My contribution to the empowerment of women has been my participation in women organizations from different sectors in order to create dialogue spaces, analysis and proposal for implementing the law 243 in Bolivia.  On the other hand, we created the training school for indigenous women leaders where they could improve their public management skills. Many of them were trained for assuming leadership positions. We also supported institutional strengthening by strategic planning in the north part of the Amazonia in Bolivia.

 3) Why do you think the empowerment of women is important in the Faith Based Organizations?

The empowerment of women is important because we can get the same rights as men as well as build new gender relations from changes in our attitudes and paradigms.
