Occupation: Nurse / Social Worker, Tanzania
1 What was your first connection with Mission 21 or Basel Mission?
The first connection with Mission 21 was in 2014 when I began learning about capacity building. They have been supporting the work in our Centre helping orphans up to this day. Mission 21 also helped with donations for activities to support those orphans and for education, such as school materials and fees for college.
2 What have been your contributions to the empowerment of women?
I helped them economically with income generating activities, such as beekeeping and breeding of chicken and pigs; psychologically by raising confidence, so that they can be strong and become independent; and spiritually through education, encouraging them not to give up and helping them to make good choices to improve their welfare.
3 Why do you think the empowerment of women is important in the Faith Based Organizations?
Through this support from FBOs, women achieve more self respect and confidence because of their contributions to their community, where they can have a good, positive effect. They could also run for office and able to make choices for themselves. They could start small businesses so they can provide for their own families and reduce their own poverty.
