“We represent peaceful coexistence of different religions”
Thursday, December 10th – 5:30 pm
Cathedral of Basel
We are horrified and dismayed by the suffering generated by the terrorist acts committed in the name of Islam in France, Iraq, Syria, Nigeria and many other countries. We stand with their families in their hurt and we are deeply pained by the great quantity of innocent victims.
The instrumentalization of religion is a heavy burden on relations between different religious communities. It is a poison for the peaceful co-existence of religions in the world. The best “weapon” against war is peace. Let us not be infected by hate. Today is Human Rights Day; let us express the unity that reaches beyond the limits of religions!
Mission 21, the Reformed Church of the city of Basel, the Roman Catholic Church of city of Basel and the Muslim Committee of Basel extend an invitation to solidary public action through “The Light Chases Away Darkness” in the square Münsterplatz. Afterward, we invite you to a Taizé prayer at the cathedral at 6 pm.
